Turner was founded in 1902 to develop what was then considered an experimental construction technology - reinforced concrete. We became known as technical innovators due to work with concrete, and management innovators due to our style of contracting. We join Architect and Owner as members of a cooperative team, starting with the design phase, and continuing through completion of construction. This system provides a high level of service to our clients and a high degree of client satisfaction. Turner has grown from a company that completed $40,000 in construction in 1902 to become the Nation's foremost General Contractor/Construction Manager with $3 billion a year in completed construction projects.

Through full-staffed, full-service offices across the country and abroad, Turner provides comprehensive general contracting, design-build, construction management, development and consulting services on building projects of all kinds. The company is engaged in many types of construction projects, including commercial office buildings, corporate facilities, interior construction, seismic and renovation, high technology manufacturing, biotechnology, hotels, airports, justice, education and healthcare facilities.

Turner is organized into business units to address the local needs of a particular construction marketplace. We currently have over 44 business unit offices from coast to coast, each completely responsible for work in its own area. The San Francisco region is managed by Vice President and General Manager, Dick Dorais, and Operations Manager, Paul Pettersen. Dick and Paul have over 52 years combined construction experience, including over 30 years in the Bay Area. The San Francisco business unit was established in 1968 and has since completed, or has under contract, some 150 projects worth $4 billion.

The business units are independent of each other and are totally sensitive to the local concerns of their cities. At the same time, Turner has a communications network that allows the business units to share information and experience and allows the jobsites to act from a distance to deal with vendors across the country. We have both national buying power and local sensitivity.

The Turner San Francisco office maintains a well balanced experience list of work between public and private sector owners, construction management and general contracting procurement and design-build services.

Our construction management work in the San Francisco Bay Area represents over 30 years of successful projects and accomplishments including a long-standing relationship with the City and County of San Francisco. Our first notable project for the City was providing construction management services on the Moscone Convention Center where Turner's early involvement (prior to architect selections) enabled the City of San Francisco to properly plan and construct a landmark facility in downtown San Francisco. Our commitment to client satisfaction and project/construction management services has enabled Turner to receive numerous AGC (Association of General Contractors) awards for our work:
